Parliament: The Virtual Experience
Parliament: The Virtual Experience is a co-production of the Library of Parliament (LoP) and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) — in association with the interactive digital studio DPT and the Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS). Our role at CIMS was to transform six heritage spaces from the building information model (BIM) we had developed for the Centre Block rehabilitation into a series of immersive digital environments. In turn, LOP, NFB, and DPT crafted an inspired and colourful narrative to bring the digital spaces to life. Essentially, CIMS built the digital stage set for telling the story about Canada’s parliamentary democracy. The “virtual parliament” provides an alternative to the guided tours that took place on site in Ottawa prior to the rehabilitation.
CIMS is honoured to have played a role in creating Parliament: The Virtual Experience. Thank-you to our colleagues at the Library of Parliament, the National Film Board, and DPT for the opportunity. We have made something that Canada can be proud of.
