79 Sparks

The 79 Sparks animation was a collaboration with the Parliamentary Precinct Branch (PPB) and the City of Ottawa to educate the public about the Long Term Vision and Plan (LTVP). The video begins by showing an overview of PPB buildings and their architectural features, a timeline of the construction of the buildings, and an overview of the LTVP updates which include a holistic or campus approach to issues such as security, sustainability, and accessibility.

Originally meant for public consultation sessions at the city’s new storefront at 79 Sparks Street, the video became a communication tool for PPB to present to stakeholders in order to help visualize their plan for the precinct. CIMS began by developing a series of storyboards that would evolve over time after several discussion periods with the client. Once a vision was set, the animation team in the lab tested a series of rendering engines to achieve the final look.
