15.5" Hollow Brick Wall

For roof spans of up to 18’ this construction types relies on a 12” deep concrete footing placed 5’ below grade to support a 15.5” thick hollow wall construction. A 4.5” running bond on the exterior uses brick anchors to connect to a 9” interior brick wall with a 2” hollow gap in between. Wooden floor joists run parallel to rafters and are embedded into the interior brick wall. Partition walls of wood and piers of brick are used to support the joists in the center of the building.
