Corner Post Log Assembly
Vertical logs are erected at each corner, around door frames and may appear at a midpoint in long walls. These vertical logs are load-bearing. The walls are built up by sliding the notched ends of horizontal logs into the notch of the vertical members creating a tight joint.
Typical Corner Post Log Construction is most commonly found in Central Canada (Ontario and Quebec). Its influence is from the French Culture. In this typical model, the 18” fieldstone foundation allows for a cellar space beneath the structure.
